In this blog, we delve into the EMC Plus High Intensity Radiated Field (HIRF) coupling to an aircraft demo available in the software examples. This overview will guide you through the entire workflow, from setting up the problem space to basic post-processing, including material properties assignment and creating probes.


In this demonstration, the pre-simplified F-16 model depicted below is exposed to a plane wave of a Gaussian pulse, simulating multiple frequencies simultaneously. This setup enables the measurement of the canopy shielding effectiveness and the coupling onto avionic cables.



The EMC Plus workflow includes the following steps:

  • Defining the simulation domain

  • Defining the plane wave source

  • Defining and assigning material properties

  • Creating the MHARNESS cables

  • Creating the current, voltage and field probes

  • Meshing the model, and running the simulation
