Welcome back! As electronic systems become more complex and integrated, ensuring proper shielding to mitigate electromagnetic interference (EMI) has become increasingly crucial. In our previous tutorial, we explored the Ansys EMA3D Cable workflow within the Discovery platform for HIRF simulations. If you haven't watched it yet, please check out the link below:

Continuing our discussion on shielding effectiveness, we will now shift our focus to another powerful tool: Ansys HFSS (High-Frequency Structure Simulator). HFSS is widely recognized and trusted by engineers and designers worldwide for its advanced electromagnetic simulation capabilities.

Overview

In this demo, we will be focusing on radiated susceptibility and examining how incident waves interact with an enclosure that has apertures, as well as when those apertures are covered with copper tape. The three examples shown below will be discussed, along with a description of how the simulation was set up.

1- Baseline:

2- Some apertures covered with copper tape:

3- All apertures covered with copper tape:

When comparing the results of these three cases, we see a noticeable difference in the amount of energy entering the box. To access the full demonstration, please view the video below:
