In this blog, I'll be talking about defining and using design parameters in Ansys Icepak. Design parameters are typically variable names assigned to magnitudes or dimensions in a model. They are helpful in quickly updating frequently used parameters and specifically in setting up multiple runs (i.e. trials) as the values change. In this particular tutorial I'll use a check-box (boolean) type design parameter.
I'll setup two trials with an inline and staggered heat sink design. Then, define a primary function to judge the better design. The final step will be executing the trials and reviewing the results. The following 16-minute video demonstrates the whole workflow step-by-step.
