We had covered an electronic cooling analysis setup with AEDT Icepak in a previous blog which is linked all the way down in this page. In this particular blog, we will work on a thermal simulation of a radio frequency amplifier. We will build our model using only AEDT Icepak and will not rely on an existing CAD definition. This exercise will sharpen our skills greatly for "Draw" and "Model" utilities in AEDT Icepak. Also we are going to learn about creating 3D Components.
Demonstration of AEDT Icepak for RF Amplifier Cooling
The parts will include fan, heatsink, pcb, heat sources, walls and openings. The following video demonstrates the process step-by-step and in detail.
The second part of our video includes meshing, set up thermal and flow model, execution and post-processing. Many features of AEDT Icepak are touched upon in detail.
